Holiday Favourites 2015

Happy holidays!

Settling down the day after Christmas, it now feels calm enough to do a post. I've been meaning to do this one for a while, but it just got busier and busier leading up to the 25th.

I want to share a couple of make-up favourites of note that have been very well-loved this December for holiday parties, for work, for holiday visits and for Christmas itself.

Chanel's Rouge Allure in shade 99 Pirate may not have a very festive name, but it is a perfect bright Christmas red. Jolly and fun, this red is appropriate for all holiday festivities. I like how snazzy the packaging is, makes it even more perfect to carry around with you in case you need to pull it out for a touch-up or two, as is like to be the case with reds - bright reds especially.

Revlon Colour Stay Moisture stain in Shanghai Sizzle likewise has been a regular companion of mine this month. It works well as a Make-It-Stick base stain for applying any red lipstick before going out, equally excellent is the fact that you can put just a little on for a hushed-red effect, or go super bold (this has fantastic colour pay-off). What I like most about this is that it's an easy red. Slap a little on, or a lot, it doesn't feather or fade, it's bright as can be and doesn't dry the lips out at all. It's a great holiday tool.

Lastly, the key to pulling off a red lip is to not make it too stark. A nice pink blush is just the thing to make a red lip work for you, even just a touch of it on the cheeks will make it look so much better - especially when you're going with a bright pop of red for the lips. I've been enjoying NARS Orgasm quite a bit as an accent to my red lip. Orgasm is a cult classic for a reason: it's got great colour pay-off so you don't feel like you're slapping loads and loads on, it's that perfect peachy pink that suits most people, and the gold flecks are heavenly. If you had to pick just one blusher to use for all time, this would be the most versatile. I love this. It is a lot like a limited edition one that I loved from the body shop back in 2009. In fact, it's exactly like it, but better quality.

Happy holidays! Thanks for reading!
